Tennis elbow (Lateral epicondylitis) and Golfers elbow (medial epicondylitis)

These conditions don’t just affect golfers and tennis players! it can creep up on anyone who performs a repetitive action, and is common in builders, carpenters, gardeners and computer workers, to name but a few.

Tennis elbow pain, is located in the forearm and can cause pain to travel into the back of the hand and even up past the elbow into the arm. In golfers elbow the pain is located in the forearm but on the inner side (side of the little finger) where it can travel into the wrist and be aggravated by flexing the wrist. In both condition the pain is normally worse during and after activity, then improves with rest.

The pain is due to inflammation of the tendon which attaches to the elbow, the repetitive action leads to micro damage of this tendon and because it’s not allowed to rest it remains in this state of inflammation.
